Site preparation work to start at Marbury Country Park, Northwich

Cheshire West and Chester 15/11/2021

Work is due to start over the coming weeks

As a result of funding secured by Cheshire West and Chester Council, along with a successful £100,000 grant from funding body FCC Communities Foundation, work is due to start at Marbury Country Park over the coming weeks, to prepare the site for a new play area.

Initial work where the play area is to be sited includes some vegetation clearance work and thinning of some existing overhanging trees, this work is undertaken during the autumn/winter to be outside the bird nesting season.

Work will also start to prepare the location of the original play area to potentially expand the area for touring caravans, (for organised groups, pre-booked only) this work will involve levelling and reseeding grassed areas and installing surfaced tracks to improve access, and some adjacent tree maintenance works.

Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said: “The exciting new play area for Marbury Park will consist of a bespoke outdoor play area with new play equipment, picnic tables and seating, interpretation boards, landscaping and planting, fencing and improved footpath connections.

“The new location will provide a more centrally located site adjacent to the existing park offices. This will also provide the opportunity to make use of adjacent picnic areas, public convenience facilities, footpaths and the Marbury Park education hub.

“The main play area installation programme will take place early next spring 2022. It is planned that the new play area will be completed Summer 2022.”

Further announcements will be made before the main play area work begins.
