Pop up vaccination clinics at Chester Zoo on 17 & 18 August

Chester Cheshire West and Chester 16/08/2021

Clinics open to all not just those paying to visit the zoo

Pop-up vaccination clinics have been operational throughout Cheshire West and Chester since mid-June and have administered thousands of vaccines.

On 17 and 18 August the clinics will be located at Chester Zoo in their public car park outside the main entrance gate and open both days between 11am and 7pm. They will be giving both the Pfizer and Astra Zeneca vaccines.

The clinics are open to all not just those paying to visit the zoo.

Attendance at the pop-up clinics require no appointment and are open to anyone over the age of 17 years and nine months.

Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “The success of the mobile vaccination clinics has been tremendous. Being able to simply walk in and get a vaccine in a location that is easily accessible has made it much easier for many to take up the vaccine.

"Tackling COVID-19 has been a real team effort and a heartening example of joined up working with communities, charities, partner agencies, the University of Chester and business. This week’s mobile clinics are situated at Chester Zoo for instance who have enthusiastically allowed the clinics into their car park to support the vaccination programme. I would like to thank them all for their help and support.”

Jamie Christon, CEO at Chester Zoo, said: “We are very proud to play a small part in helping the NHS reach even more people with its incredibly important vaccination programme.

“The pop-up clinics hosted at the zoo will be open to everyone in the area including residents, zoo visitors and staff. We hope that lots of people take advantage of this great opportunity and get vaccinated in a really simple and convenient way."

The vaccines are available to all as a first dose and as a second dose to those who have already one dose of the same vaccine, providing there is an eight-week gap between doses.

Vaccines, particularly Pfizer, are issued for as long as the daily supply lasts and so may run out before the advertised closing time.

The NHS also has a link available to static vaccination clinics which are also offering walk in vaccinations
