Eleanor Underhill spent the first thirty years of her career in the local newspaper industry, latterly as the Managing Director of the Cheshire Guardian series.  Redundancy required Eleanor to consider a career change and at this point she joined the National Trust, first as the General Manager at Quarry Bank in Wilmslow, and then later as an Assistant Director of Operations, with responsibility for the Trust's properties across Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire. 

Eleanor retired in 2023.  She is a freelance trainer for the National Trust, and alongside her role at Marketing Cheshire, is also a Director of Active Cheshire and a Cheshire Deputy Lieutenant.
