Andy has over 20 years of Higher Education experience in the area of Tourism. He has been Head of Department since April 2015 and was previously programme leader for the Tourism programmes.
His PhD is in - Tourism and sustainable development: active stakeholder discourses in the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, South Africa. He has worked on tourism consultancy projects in Tenerife, focusing on rural sustainable development and also in The Gambia, developing community-based tourism in a small coastal resort. He lectures in Tourism, focusing on destination management and sustainable tourism development.
He has also set up and owned a number of tourism businesses in Manchester and Chester focusing on backpacker accommodation.
He has also worked as a management consultant in Australia and has worked in Japan as a corporate communications consultant.
