Transport Minister tells operators to “withdraw their proposals” for ticket office closures
Update: Ticket office closure proposals
Transport Minister Mark Harper has announced the government “has asked train operators to withdraw their proposals” to shut almost all of England’s 1,007 train station ticket offices including the majority across Cheshire and Warrington.
The announcement follows a letter penned in July by our Chair, Clare Hayward outlining Cheshire and Warrington LEP’s response, developed in conjunction with Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cheshire East Council and Warrington Council, to the ticket office closure proposals.
The letter was sent to Transport Focus, the independent transport user watchdog collating responses on behalf of Rail Delivery Group which is leading the proposals.
