Three Wren's bid to increase sustainability

In a bid to increase sustainability in its business and the local area, Three Wrens have announced a new service to allow customers to re-fill their gin bottles directly at its distillery in Cheshire, removing additional packaging from circulation. Customers also get £5 off the price of their gin when the bottles are refilled.

The company has pledged its dedication to environmental causes since opening in 2019. Three Wrens are self-sufficient for many of the key botanicals in their gins. The bison grass for its award-winning gin is grown from seed directly on site – in keeping with the company’s ‘garden to glass’ philosophy.

All orders from the distillery are sent out with completely plastic free packaging. Three Wrens are also working with Ecologi to plant thousands of trees per year in order to balance out its carbon footprint, and achieved carbon neutral workforce status last year through the programme.

Owner and distiller Nick Wadeson commented: “We’ve always been passionate about sustainability and using home-grown ingredients, but we wanted to go one step further and allow our customers to opt out of packaging entirely. Now those who enjoy Three Wrens gin can do so by coming directly to the source! It’s very important for us to be an environmentally conscious distillery.”

Last year, Three Wrens acquired several internationally acclaimed awards, including the Golden Fork award (and a 3-star accreditation) at the Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards. Three Wrens’ pioneering Bison Grass gin scooped the UK’s Best Flavoured Gin award at the 2021 Great British Food Awards and recently a gold medal at the 2022 World Gin Awards.

You can find Three Wrens’ brand new distillery at Juniper House in Combermere. In a partnership with Go-Too Rural Buses, you can pre-book a journey to the distillery from Nantwich, get dropped off right outside the doors and picked up afterwards, allowing for easy travel to and from the new premises. There is also ample parking on site.
