Tatton Park Charitable Trust supports a range of projects

The Tatton Park Charitable Trust is delighted to announce that it has been named the North Cheshire Business Awards Charity of the Year for 2025 by the North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce.

The announcement was made on Friday 11th July at the Chamber’s prestigious annual Business Awards, held at Champneys Mottram Hall, where business owners and entrepreneurs from across Cheshire gathered to celebrate achievement, innovation, and community spirit.

The Tatton Park Charitable Trust was chosen in recognition of its commitment to supporting education, conservation, and restoration projects for the benefit of current and future generations of visitors. As the official Charity Partner for the next 12 months, the Charitable Trust will benefit from fundraising activity and all the brand awareness generated by the North Cheshire Business Awards. The Charity of the Year category is sponsored by Manchester Airport Group.

Over the past 20 years, the Tatton Park Charitable Trust has supported a wide range of projects aimed at conserving the park’s unique landscape and heritage, while also promoting innovative ways to engage and welcome visitors from across the region and beyond. Since its creation it has invested over £418,000 in a diverse range of 58 projects across the historic estate.

The ‘pre-loved’ bookshop at Tatton, run entirely by a team of local volunteers, is a recent initiative by the Charitable Trust; in its first year the bookshop sold over 15,000 books and generated over £25,000 in revenue. This is just one of many projects undertaken by the Trust, with others including the Animal Adoption Scheme for rare breeds at Tatton’s farm, the creation of Tatton’s own premium gin using botanicals from the gardens, and schemes to improve accessibility for visitors and fund coach travel for educational visits from local schools.

Steve Wilkinson, Chair of the independent board of Trustees, commented: “We are truly honoured to be selected as the Charity of the Year; this recognition is a testament to the enduring importance of Tatton Park in the life of our community and a tribute to our dedicated team of volunteers. The partnership means a great deal to us, and we are incredibly grateful for this opportunity. We look forward to working closely with members and partners throughout the year ahead.”

Terry Hayward, Chief Executive of the North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, commented: “Tatton Park is a cornerstone of our community – both historically and culturally – and the Charitable Trust plays a vital role in ensuring its future preservation. We’re delighted to name them Charity of the Year and look forward to working with them to strengthen the ties between business and community. The Awards evening underscored the importance of collaboration and camaraderie in driving positive change, both economically and socially, across the Cheshire region.”
