New Costa coffee shop joins the Winsford Town Centre transformation

Cheshire West and Chester Investment Winsford 27/07/2022

Work is expected to start on site later this year

Costa is to join other retailers in investing in the future of Winsford by opening a new outlet as part of the transformation of the town centre.

It will open a new 1,800 sq ft unit including a drive thru with associated outside seating in a prominent spot at the corner of Dene Drive and the A54.

Susan Agnew, Acquisition manager for Costa said: Costa are delighted to be part of this redevelopment and the upgrading of Winsford town centre.

Plans for phase one of the town centre transformation include the addition of a new B&M retail unit and garden centre announced last week, new restaurants, better parking facilities including EV provision and a new public square that will be the new home for the towns relocated war memorials.

Work is expected to start on site later this year and, once complete, it will have a leafy, new pedestrian boulevard and a distinctive parkland character.

Councillor Richard Beacham, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Growth, Economy and Regeneration, said: The Council's vision for Winsford Town Centre is to mix quality local businesses with popular high street brands. Following the recent news about B&M, this decision by Costa to invest in the town is further evidence that it is becoming more attractive to a wide range of businesses. I'm sure Costa will be a great addition.

The redevelopment of the town centre will be undertaken in phases and details on future phases will be released later.

Cheshire West and Chester Council bought the shopping centre in November 2018 and, in addition to investing £11 million of Council funding, has secured £9.98 million from the Government's Future High Street Fund to pay for the scheme.
