Firm launches “No Flight? Free Night” campaign

A Chester-based campervan hire company is offering free campervan hire to anyone who has had - or who might unfortunately have- an overseas holiday cancelled this year as Tui announces they’ll cancel six flights per day throughout June.

Calico Campers has launched their “No Flight? Free Night” campaign to anyone who has (or who might yet to have) a flight cancelled this year.

Their promise is that on proof of a cancelled overseas holiday for 2022, they’ll give away one free night in either their 4-berth family friendly campervan or their 2-berth eco campervan alongside a new booking.

This means that even if your summer holiday is cancelled, a summer holiday is still very much on the cards.

Based in Chester, Calico Campers is perfectly positioned for families or couples to get away and hit a variety of wonderful beaches within a short drive away, including popular sea fronts like Barmouth, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Anglesey, Abersoch, the Pembrokeshire Coast, Whitby, and Morecambe Bay.

If it’s not the beach you’re after, then why not explore what beauty places like the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales, Shropshire, The Peak District, Snowdonia and Wales have to offer, all of which are less than a 3 hour drive away from the Calico Campers base, making them the perfect considerations for both short adventures and longer staycations.

Just before the Platinum Jubilee weekend, travel operator Tui announced they’ll be cancelling six flights per day throughout June, which will affect around 34,000 travellers. That’s the equivalent of 180 cancelled flights this month alone. Just this week, British Airways has cancelled 124 flights and EasyJet cancelled 35 in just one day, raising significant concern over what will happen to families during the summer months.

Job cuts following the Covid-crisis are to blame. According to Airlines UK, before the pandemic, airports and airlines across Great Britain employed around 140,000 people. This figure has been cut by around 30,000 jobs just for UK airlines alone following tight restrictions on international travel.

Mark Armstrong, Co-Owner of Calico Campers comments;

“People’s long-awaited holidays are being unfairly snatched away from them, and as a UK holiday-provider, it’s heartbreaking to read about.

“We’ve launched “No Flight? Free Night” in the hope of turning a negative into a positive and to ensure that everyone who wants a fantastic holiday this year gets one.”
