Objective
I’d been working in structural and civil work for some time, but I wanted to move into engineering digital design - specifically CAD. Although I had hands-on industry experience, I didn’t have any formal CAD training, and that was holding me back from applying for the roles I was really interested in.
My objective was simple: gain the skills and confidence to start a new career path in CAD, with the technical grounding employers want.
I found the HBXL Skills Academy through the National Careers Service, and the HBXL CAD Skills Bootcamp looked like the perfect opportunity to get the right training and make the transition properly.
Experience
The structure of the course was clear, easy to follow, and the tutor support was immediate whenever help was needed. The online format worked brilliantly - I could follow the tutor step-by-step and complete the drawing tasks without any complications.
The learning environment was friendly, interactive and professional, which made it easy to meet others and ask questions. I particularly enjoyed the practical drawing exercises. The follow sheets were concise and unintimidating, and the lessons gradually built on each skill so that everything clicked into place.
By the end, I’d developed proficient technical CAD ability along with essential knowledge of construction design concepts.
Outcome
Completing the Skills Bootcamp has given me the confidence to enter the CAD job market and start applying for roles I never would have felt qualified for before. It has opened up a completely new career direction for me.
I now feel ready to begin my journey in digital design, and I’m already applying for positions in the field. I’d recommend the HBXL Skills Bootcamp 100% - it’s a fantastic resource, and for me, it was time well spent.
