Karmel has been offered a position at 1st Enable, Warrington

Executive Summary:

Challenge

“When I met Karmel the first thing she said was that she wanted to gain experience and go onto further study.” Kathryn Rhodes IQA &Tutor/Assessor.

Karmel had to realign her schedule so that she could fit her study in around her family commitments, she quickly got into a routine so that she could complete the course.

The Solution

As part of Xyrius support during the course each participant is assigned an IAG Mentor.

When Karmel told her Mentor that she intended to pay to go to college in September as she wanted to go into nursing, her mentor suggested that she should look into gaining an apprenticeship which would mean
she did not have to do the Nursing Access course and could gain experience while being paid.

This route could fast track Karmel in her new career because she would gain firsthand experience – which is essential for gaining progression on the course.

As a requirement for an apprenticeship is employment Xyrius secured Karmel 3 interviews with employers who attended our Careers Progression week.

The Result

Karmel was shortlisted for interviews with 3 employers. When Karmel went for her interviews, one of her questions for employers was – would they support her in an apprenticeship?

All employers at her interviews were impressed with her focus and desire for higher qualifications.

Currently, Karmel has been offered a position at 1st Enable in Warrington.
