Great British Festivals Honoured with Special Judges' Award at The North West Business Awards

13/05/2025

Brit Fest takes place 4–6 July at Ashley Hall Showground

The team behind The Brit Fest, Great British Festivals, has been awarded a prestigious Special Judges' Award at the North West Business Awards on Friday night — an incredible achievement for the family-run organisation behind one of Cheshire’s most exciting and fastest-growing festivals.

The awards, which celebrate outstanding businesses across the region, are known for their stringent judging criteria. The Special Judges' Award is a unique honour bestowed upon a family business that exemplifies exceptional qualities and achievements beyond standard category requirements. It highlights businesses demonstrating generational transitionoutstanding leadership and visionstrong family values, and a compelling, heartfelt business journey that resonates deeply with the judging panel.

Judges praised Great British Festivals for their exceptional passion, commitment, and vision, recognising the emotional significance of their journey and the positive impact the team has made not only locally, but across the wider North West community.

The recognition reflects not just the success of The Brit Fest itself, but the extraordinary teamwork that spans three generations of the Prophet family. Edward Prophet, Festival Director, attended the ceremony alongside his nephews George and Oliver Prophet, who are both key contributors to the festival project and part of the growing family legacy.

Speaking after the event, Edward Prophet said:
"This award means so much to all of us. It’s for all the family — past, present, and future — those who have paved the way and those who continue to create with us every day. The Brit Fest was built on a dream of bringing people together through music, celebration, and community. This recognition is for everyone who believed in that dream. Here's to celebrating family, hard work, and the exciting road ahead."

Anthony Prophet, Commercial Director of Great British Festivals, added:
"Winning a Special Judges' Award among so many incredible businesses is truly humbling. We're incredibly grateful for the support we've received from the community, our partners, and everyone who has backed The Brit Fest vision. We’re more inspired than ever to keep growing and delivering outstanding experiences for everyone who joins us."

The judging panel particularly highlighted Great British Festivals' long-term vision for growth, their positive contribution to Cheshire’s tourism and cultural landscape, and their refreshing approach to creating a family-led, community-driven event with national appeal.

This latest accolade adds to an already impressive list of achievements for Great British Festivals and The Brit Fest, including being finalists at the North West Family Business Awards 2025 in the Rising Stars category, nominations for Outstanding Debut and Event of the Year 2024 at the This Is Manchester Awards, receiving a High Sheriff of Manchester Award for Outstanding Community Contribution, and most recently, Edward and Anthony Prophet being made Freemen of Altrincham by the historic Court Leet for their local impact and commitment to the community.
