16/05/2024

The Cheshire Energy Hub has become the first sponsor.

The Cheshire Energy Hub has become the first sponsor to be announced for 2024 for Green Expo UK which focuses on achievements towards Net Zero and what a carbon neutral future will look like for organisations and individuals alike.

The third Green Expo is taking place this year in Chester, Cheshire, UK with the prestigious Photo Competition already receiving entries, a Youth Conference at the University of Chester on June 14 and the exposition at the Innovation Zone in Grosvenor Park June 15-16 at Chester Green Weekend. The Awards Dinner will be held on November 14.

The Cheshire Energy Hub has been entirely funded and strategically driven by industry. The energy sector support organisation is a multi-employer partnership between a number of leading international Cheshire based organisations based around Ellesmere Port near Chester.

One of the UK’s largest industrial clusters, the area around Ellesmere Port consumes around 5% of the nation’s energy and includes some of the UK’s largest manufacturers.

Ged Barlow, CEO of Net Zero North West said; “The Cheshire Energy Hub brought together network owners, innovators and partners, including EA Technology, Urenco, Peel NRE, Burns & McDonnell, BGS, Cadent, Engie, Storengy, Tata Chemicals, SP Energy Networks (SPEN), Encirc, ESSAR, the Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership, Cheshire West & Chester LA and the University of Chester.”

He added; “Cheshire, and the North West, is a leader on the way to net-zero, involving more than £100m of capital investment and the creation of 33,000 jobs. We need to develop a skilled workforce through work with the University of Chester, local colleges and schools and recognise innovation. This is why we are supporting Green Expo with its Youth Conference in June and Awards in November.”

Green Expo is gathering information for a manifesto of questions, concerns and pledges from organisations and individuals to be submitted for the Global climate change conference, COP 29 in November.

Jane Harrad-Roberts, Project Director of Green Expo added; “Anyone who wants to have their say to change our region’s response on climate change can complete the 3-question survey here
