Crewe Krazy Races Meets Its Teams at Spreadwise Ahead of Race Day
The Crewe Krazy Races soapbox derby is on Sunday, 14th July
A Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine, a replica AO delivery van, a miniature InterCity 125, and many more ‘Krazy’ Soapboxes gathered at Spreadwise HQ as the final preparations took place for the highly anticipated, free-to-attend inaugural Crewe Krazy Races soapbox derby on Sunday, 14th July.
Danny Scoffin, one of the Krazy Races Organisers, said: “We have had an incredible day at Spreadwise. Their fantastic team has not only sponsored our main event, which will provide thousands of locals with a memorable free day out, but they have also given our teams a day to remember weeks before our main event has taken place. Our scrutineer events are so critical because they allow us to meet all our teams and give them all the information needed for race day. After seeing nearly 30 fantastic soapboxes, I can assure the people of Crewe that Sunday, 14th July, will be a day not to miss.”
Crewe Krazy Races will be raising vital funds for St Luke’s Hospice and local charity Hopes & Beams. The event will also welcome the BBC, who will be on site all day filming and competing with Blue Peter.
Matt Faulkner, Director at Spreadwise Ltd, said: “We had a fantastic scrutineer event and I’m so pleased with the turnout. We didn’t want people to turn up, get checked and then leave. We wanted people to hang around, have a chat, meet the other teams and that’s exactly what happened. We can’t wait for the 14th July, we’ve had a sneak peak at the competition and there's definitely some fast looking carts in the mix which promise to make a great day.”
Other businesses and organisations entering a soapbox in this year's race include Zzoomm, Spreadwise Ltd, KR Fleet Solutions, Crewe Heritage Trust, Crewe Lyceum, and The Co-Op, to name just a few.
Starting their descent on Ford Lane, teams will navigate a series of thrilling twists and turns before hurtling onto Broad Street. The course winds its way past Badger Park, (known locally as The Brooklands) as where a bustling event village will come to life, complete with local food vendors, family entertainment, A family Fun Fair and a giant event screen broadcasting all the race-day excitement. The competitors will work their way through a knockout-style competition on Sunday, 14th July, with only the fastest 10 cars making it through to the final, where they will battle to take home the winner's trophy!
Crewe Town Council, in collaboration with Sarah Belcher Events Limited, is proud to bring this unique event to the town, recognising the significant economic impact it promises to deliver.
