Crewe Businesses Supported with BID-Funded Staff Training

29/01/2026

This support allows businesses to remain compliant

Businesses across Crewe are being encouraged to access fully funded, accredited training through Crewe Business Improvement District (BID).

As part of the Business Support Programme, the BID is covering the cost of essential staff training for eligible businesses across Crewe town centre, Grand Junction Retail Park and Nantwich Road. The initiative is designed to support workforce skills, safety and legal compliance, helping employers continue to invest in their teams at a time when many businesses are facing increased operating pressures.

Funded training includes legally required qualifications such as Emergency First Aid at Work, First Aid at Work and, where appropriate, Paediatric First Aid at Work. All first aid courses also include training in the use of defibrillators and life-saving CPR, supporting businesses to meet their responsibilities around staff and public safety.

Rowena Buckley, Solicitor at Hibberts LLP and a Crewe BID Board member, said: “Training is essential, but it is often one of the first things businesses put on hold when budgets are tight. By using BID levy funding to cover the cost of accredited training, we are helping remove that barrier.

“This support allows businesses to remain compliant, gives staff greater confidence in their roles and helps ensure skills across Crewe continue to develop in a practical and meaningful way.”

In addition to first aid training, businesses can access a wider range of accredited courses, including Mental Health First Aid, Fire Marshal training and key health and safety provision such as Risk Assessment, Manual Handling, Working at Height, Health & Safety in the Workplace and COSHH training.

Funding is also available for online accredited qualifications in areas including Food Hygiene and Safety, GDPR, Leadership and Management, Customer Service, Complaint Handling and Conflict Management, helping businesses build capability beyond their day-to-day compliance.

Stephanie Leese, Business Team Co-ordinator for Crewe Business Improvement District, said: “Providing this level of support through training is a core part of the BID’s role. Covering the cost of accredited training helps businesses focus on running their operations while continuing to invest in their staff.

“We want businesses to feel supported and able to plan ahead, knowing that training does not have to be another cost to worry about.”

Businesses within the three BID areas can contact the team to confirm eligibility and discuss which training options are currently available.
