The economic summit will showcase the strengths of Cheshire.

The Chief Executive Officer of Chester Zoo, AstraZeneca’s Vice President for Global Safety, Health and Environment and Sustainability and the Managing Director of leading glass manufacturer Encirc have joined the line-up for Cheshire and Warrington LEP’s upcoming economic summit.

Jamie Christon, CEO at Chester Zoo, Juliette White CBE, Vice President at AstraZeneca and Adrian Curry Managing Director at Encirc will take part in a panel at the event next week.

The economic summit and AGM will showcase the strengths of Cheshire and Warrington and the huge economic opportunities available to the area as it looks to embrace the green agenda and decarbonise the economy.

All three panellists will offer a range of insight and expertise in these areas, with Jamie leading Chester Zoo’s financial recovery since COVID-19 and now turning to the future, including the zoo’s conservation masterplan; Juliette having accountability for AstraZeneca’s Carbon Zero programme as well as leading the UK crisis team in response to COVID-19; and Adrian having more than 20 years in the food and beverage sector, including a wealth of experience in net zero in manufacturing.

The Economic Summit and AGM takes place on Tuesday, 19 October at Chester Racecourse with leading economist Sir Dieter Helm CBE and Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council (BFC) Caroline Rush CBE also part of the speaker line-up.

Clare Hayward MBE, DL, Chair, Cheshire and Warrington LEP, said: “We are delighted to have Jamie, Adrian and Juliette joining us at this hugely important event for Cheshire and Warrington.

“While economic priorities are important for ourselves and businesses across the sub-region, so are environmental ones as we continue on our net zero journey and look to make the most of all the opportunities this offers us.

“All three of our panellists have a range of experience and expertise in this area and will provide a valuable insight into not just what they have already achieved but also their future ambitions as we continue to work towards becoming the UK’s healthiest, most sustainable, inclusive and growing economy here in Cheshire and Warrington.”
