Cheshire-based Triathlon Series returns for 30th anniversary year backed by historic breakfast company
Mornflake supports one of the UK’s biggest triathlon events.
Cheshire breakfast giant Mornflake has thrown its weight behind one of the UK’s biggest programmes of triathlon events taking place up and down the country over the next few months.
The ‘Millers of Mighty’ Oats, recognised for its commitment to promoting health and wellbeing, is sponsoring the UK Triathlon Series which encourages people of all abilities to take on a fitness challenge.
The Series, marking its 30th year, is back with a full programme of events from April, and after many were forced to cancel during the pandemic, organisers plan to make it the ‘biggest and best’ with new challenges for the super-fit and beginners.
More than 10,000 people are expected to take part, kicking off with a Mornflake porridge breakfast before pinning on a branded race bib to test their endurance with a long distance swim, cycle and run or one of the shorter distances designed for first-timers and children.
This year’s programme, beginning in Birmingham on April 24 and running to October, includes a World Triathlon Qualifier for championships to be staged in Pontevedra, Spain next year and a return to Nantwich where the Series all began 30 years ago.
There are 17 dates in total with Barony Park and Nantwich Swimming Pool hosting the Cheshire event on May 22 and the North West Triathlon on September 2022.
Beginners can choose distances starting at a 200m swim, 9k cycle and 2.5k run and organisers, based in Wybunbury, Cheshire are inviting fundraisers to compete at their own pace in the CRUK Wave for Cancer Research.

Mornflake is the go-to breakfast brand for many top athletes including Cheshire’s very own Paralympic gold medallist Andy Small and an all-girl team who triumphed in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge.
