Autumn walks, wildlife and wellbeing at Tatton Park

Tatton Park is a perfect place for making the most of autumn

Tatton Park is the perfect place for making the most of autumn. The Gardens, Farm and 1000-acre Parkland provide temptation enough at this colourful time of year, but their seasonal events are giving us more reasons than ever to embrace the outdoors.

Seasonal outdoor events at Tatton Park

A new Percy the Park Keeper event takes place in Dairy Wood from 11th September, and it’s a perfect way for keeping the family active outdoors. Inspired by Nick Butterworth’s book ‘After the Storm’, prepare to help Percy and his friends on this seasonal trail of forest play and muddy adventure.

Tatton Park’s Farm is hosting a Harvest Festival this weekend, to celebrate autumn’s abundance. You’re invited to bring your pets and have them blessed alongside the Farm animals!

Trees laden with fruit are a wonderful sight in autumn, so why not spend a delicious day celebrating the apple in all its glory? Visit the beautiful walled Orchards in Tatton Park Gardens on Sunday 3rd October for Apple Day, and taste or buy from a mouth-watering range of apple varieties. Beyond the Orchard, the changing leaves pop with colour in the Japanese Gardens, and as the leaves fall, longer views can be enjoyed from the Broad Walk and Italian Terrace. Also, several Forest Bathing sites have been introduced, giving you a beginner’s guide to the art of spending time beneath trees and a boost to your sense of wellbeing.

The Parkland in autumn

The Parkland bursts with wildlife in autumn. Set off walking and you may hear the deer bellowing and see stags competing for females by locking antlers during the rut. On a much smaller scale, can you spot the many types of fungi growing around the Parkland at this time of year? To help you out, there’s a Fungal Foray on Sunday 17th October led by fungus expert Fungal Punk Dave and a Tatton Park Ranger. Why not join them on a guided walk in the Parkland to discover the mysterious world of fungi? This event must be pre booked via tattonpark.org.uk or call 01625 374428.
