Wheels for All brings accessible cycling to Ellesmere Port

National accessible cycling charity, Wheels for All, is bringing regular accessible cycling sessions to Ellesmere Port Sports Village. The scheme is in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council and Brio Leisure, funded by Active Travel England.

The new sessions are launched today (Wednesday 9 July) and will be held each Wednesday between 11am and 3pm, booking can be made at:  https://wheelsforall-activity.kinetic.plus

Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Highways, said: “Following a very successful taster event held last autumn at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village it’s great to welcome Wheels for All to Ellesmere Port.

"That taster has now been developed into a regular inclusive cycling activity in Ellesmere Port this year. Sessions will take place in a safe, secure environment on the running track.

“I’d like to add thanks to Colas who have provided a concrete base for the Wheels for All cycle container, as part of their social value programme.”

The charity promotes inclusive cycling through a range of successful community engagement programmes that give people the opportunity to cycle on a regular basis; through help, support and guidance.

Ben Whittingham, Wheels for All’s Regional Manager, Liverpool, Cheshire & North Wales said: We’re incredibly excited to be launching inclusive cycling sessions in Ellesmere Port alongside our fantastic partners at Cheshire West and Chester Council and Brio Leisure Centre.

“These weekly sessions will give everyone, regardless of ability, the chance to enjoy the freedom and fun of cycling. We can’t wait to welcome people from across the community and start building something truly special together.”

Wheels for All provides fun and friendly activities for disabled people and people who would otherwise not be able to cycle.

There are sessions being held in 28 locations across the country including Marbury Country Park in Northwich and now Ellesmere Port.
