NCS Summer Programme
After a hiatus last year, the National Citizen Service is back this summer!
The Pledge is looking to recruit local businesses for an Employer Panel to help the young people with their Social Action Projects.
As part of the two-week NCS programme, teams of 15 young people get together to raise awareness and funds for a local charity through a Social Action Project. These can range from holding a tea party at a local residential care home to a car wash with profits going to a mental health charity.
As part of the Pledge’s commitment to our young people, we are inviting local businesses to get involved as part of the Employer Panel.
Your role would be to act as a ‘critical friend’ to the teams, helping them get the most out of their project and getting them to think like a businessperson.
The young people will be starting their second week of the Summer Programme when you’ll meet them, so they will have thought about what they would like to do for their Social Action Project. This project is designed to strengthen teamwork and organisational skills, as well as benefit a local charity by asking the young people to raise awareness of a good cause and raise funds.
This is a fantastic opportunity for SME businesses within Cheshire East and Cheshire West to give back to the community, meet the upcoming employees within the region and build their future talent pipeline!
How to get involved?
To take part, you will need to be available virtually on either the 26th July, 2nd or 9th of August from 12:30 – 15:00. This session will give you the opportunity to discuss your business with the groups and give them advice and tips on their project.
You also have the option to attend their final presentations on the Friday of that week to see how they have got on with their projects.
All of the sessions will take place on Teams and will be a hugely important part of what NCS will achieve this year.
