Introduction to Lean Manufacturing

About this course
A complete introductory course for all delegates no matter the level of experience.
This course allows delegates to gain insight and understanding of how to improve the effectiveness of a work environment, how to approach problem-solving in a structured manner, where and how to apply Visual Management and how to deal with equipment breakdowns before they even happen.
The participants will study the basics of Lean manufacturing by a combination of classroom-based activities, where shared learning is encouraged through numerous breakout sessions.

Day 2
- Visual Management & Standard Work
- Understand the concept of Visual Management
- How to apply Visual Controls?
- How to apply Visual Displays?
- Define Standard Work
- Apply Standard Work in the Industry
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
- How the principles of TPM fit together
- Identification of the 6 major losses in manufacturing
- How losses materialise in equipment
- What are the targets of TPM – the ultimate 4 zeroes
- The process for implementing TPM
- The benefits of TPM
Both days consist of PowerPoint-based presentations and numerous breakout sessions for the delegates to discuss and apply learnings in activities.
Each module is accompanied by a workbook for the attendees to work through and be able to take additional notes if they wish to do so. There is a short test at the end of every session to judge the information retained by the learners.
Upon request, the trainer can use existing problem-solving systems currently in use to assist the delegates in familiarising themselves with Lean tools applied by the company.
